Oh Bury Me - A collaboration with Something Memorable by Johnny Minstrel published on 2013/07/20 07:59:13 +0000 When Sean (http://soundcloud.com/something-memorable) suggested we do something together I was only too keen to work with him. Sean's work always resonated with me (we're probably stalked by the same demons) and I really felt it an honour. When he sent me the lyrics, it was almost immediate that the melody came - as if those lyrics set the melody by themselves. They were utterly moving, and when I hear them in song, I still get the shivers. Thank you so much Sean. And your arrangements are most superb indeed. What a pleasure working with you! Music: Johnny Minstrel. Lyrics: Something Memorable Vocals, acoustic guitar and harmonica: Johnny Minstrel. Arrangement: Something Memorable. OH BURY ME Bury me on a Mountain, Where I’ll be close to God. Where I’ll smile watching the heavens, And wink up at angels from beneath the sod. Oh bury me on a mountain, For the snow has melted now. For I never could put down roots, Now let the wild flowers show me how. Bury me in the Desert, The ground will be bone dry. There been too much Whiskey in my life, Time to give abstinence a try. Oh Bury me in the Desert, Where the sun has no tears to cry. Too many untruths have passed my lips, Now the sands will hide where I lie. Bury me by the Ocean. Where the sunsets slips behind the waves. And the sea can whisper the endless Prayers over my grave. Oh Bury me by the Ocean, Where sea birds wheel and screech. In my time I stole too many kisses, Now only the waves will kiss the beach. Oh bury me in that place That place somewhere If there no trace left to find me At least you’ll know I’m at peace out there. Bury me in the Valley, Where the river has no name. And the willows rustle with the grace Of beauty that can’t be tamed. Oh bury me in the Valley, In days when summer has begun. I’ve drunk to much in my life, Now the green grass can drink in the sun. Bury me in a Gold Mine. In the cool stillness of cut stone. Where the water’s constant dripping, Will sing a requiem for my soul. Oh bury me in a Gold Mine, Leave no trace of me above the ground. For I lost all the loves of my life. Let me rest where something precious has been found.
