Holy Smokes & The Godforsaken Rollers Johnny Holliday Durban Country blues, folk, and voodoograss project out of Portland, Oregon, USA. Holy Smokes & The Godforsaken Rollers are an American multi-instrumentalist duo providing a spaghetti western, country blues & bluegrass arrangement. They call their style voodoograss, and their roots and hearts are with country blues, playing old time porch music with a modern spin! The guys recently added a South African percussionist to the fold, who adds tasteful rhythms and grooves, playing a Cajon and other interesting shakers, bells and chimes. As true songwriters, the trio creates a driving, passionate, and soulful sound. All of their songs have a deeper meaning and truth, progressing with interesting time changes and breaks, to provide a body shaking groove! The sounds provided below are from earlier recordings. Johnny is currently self-producing the second album for the group here in Africa in order to capture the ever-growing sound of this young band.
