The Second Commandment (2009) by John Harvey: Studium published on 2013/09/27 10:40:06 +0000 This is the first, live performance of ‘The Second Commandment’, given at the close of the lecture delivered at the University of Calgary, Canada in 2009. The event also marked my first public exposure as a 'musician' after a 30-year hiatus from sound composition and practice. The pace is far swifter than the definitive version of piece, presented at Princeton Theological Seminary, USA two years later. (For a description of the conceptual underpinning and process of the piece, see: 'The Second Commandment (2011)' (http://sound.johnharvey.org.uk/track/the-second-commandment-2011). Personnel: A. W. Pink and John Harvey Instrumentation: Traveler EG-1 guitar, two Digitech DL8 Hardwire looper/delay pedals, Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster, Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi fuzz box, Line 6 Pocket Pod, Boss FV-500L volume pedal, and a Toshiba Portege R400 laptop computer. Context: Recorded live at a lecture entitled: ‘An Anti-Icon: A Protestant Art Now', delivered at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada (18 Sep. 2009). Studio remastered in Aberystwyth, UK in June 2010.
