“John Doe” is the alias of Russian born DJ, Vadim Golikov.
Performing his first live gig in June 2008, he soon became a weekly resident at Korova Milkbar that year. Not long after still in 2008, he started to make guest appearances at other popular Melbourne nightclubs including seven, motel, and room680, and then even became a weekly resident at room680.
Vadim’s talent quickly led him to becoming a regular guest DJ on a weekly radio show “Korova Fridays Show” on Kiss FM.
Vadim made his first guest appearance at Two Floors Up, also commonly known as “TFU”, in November 2008 when he played at the afterparty for the Stereosonic Music Festival. Vadim’s passion for the techno and minimal sound with crazy melodies driving baselines was why his talent was so quickly recognized at TFU.
In March 2009, Vadim had the opportunity to support Phil Kieran (UK) at TFU, who he has been largely influenced by. Vadim’s talent quickly got him a residency at TFU after a smashing set supporting international dj Daniel Steinberg (GER) in early April that year.
Soon more gigs started popping up all across town. In June 2009 Vadim became a resident DJ at Wah Wah Lounge, as part of their Sunday Recovery Crew. In July he made his first guest appearance at the world-renowned Revolver. Revolver has hosted some of the biggest acts from all across the world, of all music genres. Vadim now continues performing at Revolver regularly on Sunday afternoons and holds a residency on Thursday nights.
In September Vadim made his first appearance with the ‘Likes of You’ crew, supporting Audion (Matthew Dear), Oxia (FRA), Omar S (USA) and Dubfunk (Egypt). After that impressive performance he secured a residency at all Likes of You events, supporting other huge internationals such as Oliver Huntemann (GER), Stephan Bodzin (GER),Oliver Koletzki (GER), Seth Troxler (GER), Audiojack (UK), Claude Vonstroke (USA), Josh Wink (USA), Danny Howells (UK), Format B (GER), Nathan Fake (UK), Alex Smoke (UK), Arnaud Le Texier (UK), Johnny D (GER), Butch (GER) and Sasha (UK).
In January 2010, Vadim performed at his first major music festival, Summadayze where he supported the likes of Carl Cox, Danny Tenaglia (USA), Sharam (Deep Dish), Eddie Halliwell (UK), Mark Knight (UK), Nic Fanciulli (UK), Infected Mushroom, Sebastien Leger (FRA), Tom Novy (GER), Don Diablo (Netherlands), Ian Carey (USA), The Shapeshifters (UK) just to name a few. As well as Summadayze, Vadim also managed to secure a set at Future Music Festival in 2010. Vadim supported the likes of Prodigy (UK), Franz Ferdinand (UK), David Guetta (FRA), Booka Shade (GER), Erick Morillo (USA), John Digweed (UK), Sven Vath (GER), Above & Beyond (UK) and Dubfire just to name a few.
Today, Vadim is showing no signs of slowing down. His unique style of mixing and versatile sound continues to be in high demand to this day. You can find him spinning records all over town every weekend at his resident spots TFU, Tramp Jungle and Revolver, as well as regular guests appearance at venues such as Circus, Brown Alley, Billboards, Korova, Motel, Seven, Roxanne Parlour, Room680, Eve, Alumbra and many more. Vadim’s skills have also taken him interstate on a few occasions as well as overseas, where he performed in Israel and Spain in the summer of 2012. You will be able to catch Vadim also playing at Strawberry Fields 2013.
