INTRODUCTION: I've been writing songs for my own pleasure since I was a kid, but it's only in the last couple of years that I've gained access to the resources to produce recordings that I'm comfortable with sharing. What I've posted here is, I think, a fair, if not perfect, representation of my ideas. My goal: that the best song I've ever created will always be the one I'm working on at the time. To that end, I invite your comments, good, bad or otherwise. P.S. I have other material ready to post, should I get the sense that anyone's interested in hearing it.
SONG-WRITING PHILOSOPHY: I place equal emphasis on lyrics and composition. While popular music tends to lean heavily toward the latter, throw-away lyrics (of the "ooh, baby, our love was meant to be" variety) truly irritate me. My goal as a tune-smith is to write songs of complex simplicity that touch a wide audience with heartfelt, thought-provoking or unusual messages, while simultaneously evoking the desire to snap, tap, bounce or hum. If you're fond of pop songs that trigger both a conscious and visceral response, I am your servant.
