On the occasion of Pope Francis's visit to the United States, Andy Nowicki reflects on the bumpy transition from the papacy of Benedict XVI, a shy, retiring, intensely scholarly advocate of traditional European mores, to Francis I, a garrulous Latin American populist(albeit one of European stock). Andy observes a church, and a culture, in severe crisis, while pointing out that there is no necessary contradiction between a universalist-oriented Church and particularist cultural adherence to Western civilization and bloodlines, before finally advocating a traditionalist perspective that eschews the unsavory extremes of both left-liberal anti-white ethnomasocism on one side and "edgelord" chauvinism and obnoxious race-hatred on the other.
