Jimmy Levi Jimmy Levi Northfield Critical acclaim for Jimmy Levi: "He's just a fantastically weird guy!" "His music looks like it should be stupid, but it isn't." From listening to 80’s pop music on repeat to singing in children’s choruses, Jimmy Levi has been making music for as long as he can remember. He grew up in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, where he was encouraged to compose at a young age by his piano teacher, composer Brian Ciach. Besides composition, piano, and voice, Jimmy studied Viola with Anthony Doheny and Sarah Sutton. Jimmy’s love for music led him to St. Olaf College, where he is now a sophomore pursuing degrees in Composition and Viola Performance. His Composition professors are Justin Merritt, Yan Pang and Timothy Mahr; his viola professor is Charles Gray. He performs with a string quartet, the Socks Quartet, and is a member of the St. Olaf Orchestra. Jimmy’s compositions have been performed by ensembles such as the Mivos Quartet and the Walden School Players. His compositional style currently alternates between a comfortable modernist-classical aesthetic and wacky conceptual art. Jimmy Levi’s tracks II.
