Only In Jesus Mark 10: 17-27.WMA by Jim Driskell published on 2015-10-16T14:58:38Z As Christians here in the United States we are very blessed, and we are charitable. Christians on average give more and to more different organizations than the average. In the first century charity wasn't emphasized, in fact it's a lot like the world today. We see the wealthy, talented, intelligent as somehow blessed, entitled almost. We see Peter's reaction when Jesus says it's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, obviously impossible, than for a rich man to enter heaven. (Which is a warning to we who live in the United States, by all standards, world, history, we are rich) Peter was astonished and replies; "Then who can be saved?" Peter is saying, if the rich can't make it, what's to become of us? The rich man has the golden ticket, all that wealth. How about those who left everything to follow You? That is what we're supposed to do as Christians. We aren't to let wealth be an idol, we are to trust Jesus' lordship for everything. Jesus tells us, for man it's impossible, but for God, anything it possible. And so it is, we can trust in our idols, that lead to destruction. Or understand that Jesus is the only stairway to heaven.
