Tempest Octet by Hayley A Jenkins published on 2015-08-13T18:13:02Z Based upon a poem by Siegfried Sassoon entitled Storm and Sunlight, the piece uses unusual harmonies in 6ths and tritiones with parts being passed continually between players. The musical ideas work towards creating the impression of a discussion/argument, stormy turmoil and almost violence between players, making the audience work hard to locate each aspect of the dialogue. The work is semi-autographic for the composer, who has spent many holidays in the Scottish Highlands battling the elements whilst conquering Munro's. Written for octet (Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn, Piano, 2 Violins, Viola and Cello). Genre Tempest Comment by cathrinta As the storm. I would like to hear played by a full orchestra. It's a beautiful piece 2015-11-26T22:27:00Z
