POET : WRITER : SINGER : LYRICIST
J E F F R E E | J A E brings a unique flavor to music and spoken word by collaborating the struggles of black America, black gay culture, sexual identity, self-love, and his own self experiences with experimental and familiar genres and sounds. By using traditional storytelling, rhythm, arrangement, and singing; he pushes forward the common and uncommon issues through live lyrical content and prerecorded tracks with influences from R&B, Jazz, Soul, Hip Hop, Country, and a fusion of genres from underground and mainstream music. With the desire to push forth a refreshing perspective for other black gay men as well as identity challenged people, he puts a persona/ personality to lyrical content in order show the environment, struggles, and experiences of his peers; as well as a clear view into his own journeys and struggles thus far. His art, through style and vocal experimentation, is a reflection of the the struggles with choice, failures, finding comfort, truths and lies, finding ones identity, frustrations and anger, hope, change (for better and for worst), struggles with understanding love, and dreams of future and foreign possibilities. To create this, he draw inspiration from anything living and dead with the challenge to never limit the of possibilities, speech, humor, and/ or language in lack luster forms. His love of storytelling and turning something vague and misunderstood into something more, if not everyone can relate to, extents into the form of short stories, poetry and music.
