Jazz MacFarlane, is an Australian Singer Songwriter, Multi -instrumentalist, Dancer and Performing Artist based in Melbourne.
Her unique & diverse musical style has been influenced by traces of R&B, Mainstream Pop with a Jazz touch to her vocals and a Latin twist. Her musical influences are Gin Wigmore, Amy Winehouse, Kate Miller-Heidke, Karmin to pop singers like Lily Allen and Lady Gaga.
Jazz MacFarlane was born in Mossman, Queensland, Australia. At age 6 her family relocated to Mullumbimby, New South Wales (hometown of iconic hip-hop artist, Iggy Azalea) where school and local singing groups sparked her desire for performance. By age 10 she was dancing, singing, choreographing, songwriting, and learnt guitar to bring her talent to an audience. She was well known in the neighborhood for producing broadway-inspired dance routines, comedy, circus acrobats and launching her homegrown songs using the local kids as backing singers & dancers and staging these events in neighborhood garages for the parents and by 15 was teaching dance school and singing & dancing hip hop at local rap battles.
At 16 Jazz packed her bags and guitar and travelled up and down the east coast of Australia stopping in Brisbane to record her first Demo track “I’m Wild” for which she won the North Coast Dolphin Award for category “New Emerging Talent”.
In 2009 she won sponsorship to study music at The Northern Rivers Arts Conservatorium, where she learnt to play piano and also teamed up with a Brazilian musician who later invited her to play music in Brazil.
In 2010 Jazz moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil and started her career as a recording artist, playing her originals & covers each night, at bars, restaurants, gradually growing to bigger venues and larger crowds, touring and recording across the country. She worked as a paid session singer with local Brazilian bands on their albums whilst further developing her unique style and brand of music, before assembling a six piece Band. Jazz has appeared on renowned Brazilian music radio and television stations, sharing her story, music & industry vision.
In 2013 Jazz MacFarlane returned to Australia, where she is currently songwriting & performing her edgy blend of pop, to Australian audiences leaving her individualistic fingerprint & making her mark.
