Since early childhood Jay Shem was passionate about the world of the urban music, and being just 12 started to get interested in Rap, the Hip-Hop culture and on the other hand, the Electronic music.
He started playing with turntables in 1997 being just a 15-years old teenager. After putting a lot of effort on buying his first turntable and his first vinyls, Shem dedicates the most of his free time to practicing mixing, scratches and, most of all, to building his music library. With many years of hard work, dedication and persistence, Jay Shem evolved really fast and got into the best discos of his city, turning himself into one of the major local DJs.
In 2004 he makes a great step in his career playing in Madrid, where soon gets renown granting him a place in some of the most important clubs of the country (Bash Line, Shoko Le Club, Chango, Penelope, Diamond, Soul Kitchen, New Garamond, But, Moma, Lokua, Black Star club, La Comedia, etc.). Since then his CV doesn’t stop getting richer as he gets invited to the major discos of Madrid (Teatro Kapital, Joy Slava, Archi, Serrano 41, Chesterfield Café, etc.), and of Spain (Jamboree and Catwalk in Barcelona, Soul club in Valencia, Sala Radiola in Valladolid, Sala Strong in Vigo, etc.).
In 2010 Shem goes to the USA where he lived for some time in the Harlem district of New York. There he worked in Hudson Terraze, one of the most important discos of Manhattan. After that stayed at Miami Beach for playing at the famous Steel Toas of South Beach. With no doubt, this moment of this time in the USA was not only a great personal experience, but also for the professional development, music and cultural career of Shem.
During all this time, Jay Shem shares the DJ booth with important performers and DJs of all over the world, both Spanish ones (DJ Jhose, DJ Jhey, Nuno, DJ Baster… ) as international ones (Tony Touch, Cut Killer, Jose Shiva, Dj Clue, DJ Camilo, Sergei, DJ Jekey, DJ Yoda, etc.), and performs in after-parties of famous international artists and singers like Redman, DJ Khaled, Lil John, Sugarhill Gang, Afu-Ra, Jeru the Damaja or Booba.
Jay Shem performs a wide repertory of music styles. He started with Hip-Hop, R&B and Electro, but now, apart from these styles, he also works with House, Moombahton and Dubstep music, becoming a many-sided and versatile DJ, opened and enthusiastic about each and every one of these styles, always taking into account the public and choosing the best hits and playlists of the moment for making people dance and move on the dance floor until the last minute.

During all these years Jay Shem keeps on performing and promoting the Urban parties with Hip-Hop, Dubstep and Moombahton, Electro and, of course, House music, and gives life to the famous session Urban Party where he mixes all these styles. Its success and the audience don’t stop growing, what makes it one of the most important urban music sessions all over Spain.
Moreover, he has collaborated with various Spanish Hip-Hop bands and artists like Wase and Jay Sanchez, Torrico, David Logic, Christian Crisis, Mad Melow, Dakane de Skily Crue, Gran Purismo etc.. and also with numerous House and Electronic music producers like Aran Suko. Shem is part of the rap group “921 conexión”, where together with Norte Mc makes a very specific and unique in Spain gangsta Hip-Hop with a touch of Electronic music in its rhythms.
