Factions, for violin, bassoon, and piano (2011) (MIDI) by Jay Derderian published on 2012-06-20T16:11:39Z This is a piano trio composed in the winter of 2011. It's scored for violin, bassoon, and piano. This piece was an experiment in "double-function form." Essentially, the piece is in sonata form which has been stratified over seven continuous movements. The exposition is the first movement, movements 2-6 are development sections, and the final movement is a slightly varied recapitulation with a coda containing the secondary theme. Each movement devoted to a fragment of the initial theme and is developed in very different styles. Enjoy!
