After several months of committing myself to playing live music in New York City I have quickly understood that I have had not found the time to produce any electronic dance beats...
Much to my disappointment, unfortunately there isn't enough time for me in a day to live a ‘double persona life’. To split my time between performing live music - which includes personal practice, composition; set list composition; arranging; rehearsing; transcription; film score writing, etc... & producing beats - which requires equal depth; many hours of studio listening; consistent upgrade and knowledge of hardware & software; consistent search of new material of other producers & their work; podcasts, radio, blogs etc…)
As I choose to commit my time & creativity towards the ‘sound’ of acoustic & analogue musical instruments & nature, I understand that out of respect for myself & the communities of music I would rather leave the masters & newcomers of this type of production to continue this timeless legacy of Techno / House Dance music to them.
I haven’t lost the love for this music at all, if anything I have anything but love and respect, for the most important factor in music for me is dance. I am nonetheless worried about the production of mass popular music these days, and the lack of interest in musicians and their work to accompany singers and rappers.
For me, to aim to produce quality music means to be fully committed to the factors of your style, everyday of your life, like an athlete or warrior. This means that I have to either chose one life or the other, and acoustic sounds have been in my life since I was born.
The sound of The Piano has been a part of me since birth, and I have not finished understanding the power this instrument holds.
However, I would be lying if I told you I haven’t had immense pleasure trying to produce dance beats on Logic Pro 9. This even resulted in my EP release of ‘Midnight Drummer’ on Origami Sound [ROMANIA], of which I am extremely proud of and represent part of my artistry.

The beginning of this year marks the end of my academic musical education & finally my ‘release’ into this world in which I am aching to make a musical contribution. I will continue to collaborate ‘compositionally’ with electronic producers but my own personal project will be of another incentive.
I have been working on the material for my next ‘Dance EP’ since this past summer and I have decided to devote my sound to acoustic instruments, but my aim is exactly the same as it was when I produced electronically. My only wish is to make quality dance tracks, whether this comes from slower or faster dances. To make people come together in the act of dance is all I care about, honestly.
So, this kind of dramatic letter put aside, I have decided to give away some edits and cuts of some of the works over the last couple of years that have been unreleased or were just for experimentation. These are a select few that I could get my hands on of which I wanted to share in the first place, and I sincerely hope you enjoy what you hear; these have been a major part of my life.
I can’t wait for what 2016 has to bring, and middle name JAONA is still alive, but this time through the presentation of my first name, MATHIS.
I absolute can’t wait to begin this experiment with you all,
peace for now
