Rastafarianism historically as a religion is still fuzzy it is more a "lifestyle" .. Based on teachings from true Rastafarian elders I come to view Rastafarianism as “wholesome lifestyle” only ...which anyone can adopt as theirs regardless of , class, color, or creed ,or national origin without having to wear decorations like turbans, dread locks and other trinkets that's optional : rasta should not eat pork, use salt in foods, should not have sex with women during their menstrual cycle , rasta should refer to females as "Queen" and treat female with dignity, they should be the protector of their community and have peace and love in their heart and see weed smoking as HOLY and deep meditation not for the fun of getting high and committing mischive and crime ..They should not involve in criminal activity period , Rasta eat ground provision as their main food , most use to be farmers , they NEVER seek war but defend attacks vigorously ,they are not fearful at anytime of anyone even the baddest man on earth ...lot of what I have described above disqualify 80% of so called Rastas today walking around in turbans and with dreadlocks and smoking weed ..Beware they are fashion models !!! ,in other word they are FAKE fashion folks .... Bob Marley is one model from which most rastas today can be measured !!! it is never mandatory to wear a dreadlocks ,being a rasta lies in the heart..... While I was on my sojourn in Jamaica as a youngster. I was taught these tenets by an elder Rasta who was living on a farms . However, I am not an expert on Jamaican culture because I am American and never return in the Island in approx 27 years so i can't claim to know what's happening on the ground there now ... but my description of Rasta tenets is guaranteed right because those tenets were always the same before I was born also the rasta movement was created in Jamaica in the 1930s against British rule as a British colony ... then later became worldwide because of "one man" named Bob Marley !!
