Jāmin Queens, NY Producer. DJ. Artist. Light through music. The sound of an R&B groove body-rolling to a hip-hop beat, floating over an EDM bed, win’ing up an Afro / Caribbean rhythm and you’ll find Jāmin Gilbert at the switch. The rare DJ who produces, writes, and sings, Jāmin has crafted a collection of songs for our times, engineered to his own eclectic beat. Raised on a Pennsylvania farm where impromptu family jam sessions were a regular feature as was community advocacy, finding his voice in the mosaic of sounds available to the DJ. After going on tour at 18 as a DJ for Geffen Records’ Girls Against Boys, he mixed beats for label artists, built Brooklyn music studio Ishlab, gained acceptance into NYU’s Steinhardt School—a first for a DJ who couldn’t read or write music—and founded Project Rhythm, a non-profit that has equipped over 1,500 children in New York City with life skills through the production of their own original songs. With his new recordings, Jāmin aims to invite movement and spark movements, each song a call to action to come together, whether to make moments, make change, or make babies, and celebrate the beauty of life.
