If there is a common thread in the music I play, it’s that it is meant to move you in some way. I love textures that tease the brain, melodies that inspire the soul, and unusual rhythms that move the body. I love mixing tracks that were never designed for the club, yet find a natural place there anyway. I love the challenge of warming up a dancefloor, and the ecstatic energy of closing one. I’m first and foremost a dancer, and the tracks I play are the ones I’d move to myself.
Aside from DJing, my passion is creating experiences for others. For me, this is a balance of good people, careful music programming, and thoughtful experience design: interactive performances, art, and even the little stuff like signs(...why not decorate the bathrooms, too?) Even the ‘boring’ logistical bits are essential - I want participants to never break the moment. The temporary ‘un-reality’ of an event is fragile, and only when you are fully immersed can you truly participate. When it’s done right, there is nothing like it.
I’ve been fortunate enough to bring these passions to three continents. During a year living in Turkey, I learned to DJ in Istanbul nightclubs and organized undergrounds with friends on rooftops and patios. Later, I moved to Berlin, where we coordinated open-air renegades with Funktion One sound away from prying eyes. In San Francisco, I found an unparalleled and delightfully intimate community of weirdos who make magic for others just because.
I'm currently based in Berlin, working on music, events, and design. See you around.
