ShadowOnTheGlass by James Milne 8 published on 2013/03/28 13:43:27 +0000 Tender Mercies is an grouping of instrumental music, an expression of the circumstances and events that have broken lives. It tells the tale of Crystal Lydiard, a name that is almost unknown, but represents a story that should never have happened. A story of despair, pain, and anguish. Crystal Lydiard was my girlfriend and later fiancé, and she died following her kidnapping in 2012. Crystal was safely returned home, but that's where her story really begins to go downhill. Shadow on the Glass details the utter anxiety, the fear and helplessness I felt in the circumstances that followed Crystal's return home. Understandably, her security was shattered, and she was suffering Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and massive depression. A friend moved in with Crystal, not as a comfort, but as a protection. If Crystal walked into a kitchen, she grabbed a knife and attempted to slit her wrists. If she was walking down the streets and a car backfired, she would wet her pants. She spent her nights curled up into a ball, gently rocking whilst tears streamed down her face. She was... Broken. After 16 suicide attempts in the space of 14 days, I was forced to no longer consider, but act on a suggestion that had plagued me, and a fear that stripped me of my strength. I had Crystal placed in a hospital on suicide watch, under Section 10 of the Mental Health Act.
