Crisis Brief: The Risk of an Iranian Military Response in Iraq by Institute for the Study of War (ISW) published on 2019-10-09T01:48:20Z The leader of Iran’s Law Enforcement Forces (LEF) stated that it intends to provide security for the Arbae'en pilgrimage, raising the possibility that Iran is considering deploying this force to Iraq. The LEF previously helped the Assad regime attempt to suppress the Syrian rebellion as early as 2011.
