When I was much younger…teens, I wore every hairstyle, color, pierced everything I could, I was a PUNK. Straight out punk. Most people in Mesa, AZ should well remember at least seeing me around 84-91. I had such a broad scope of rebellious music anything that was non-commercial, Every punk, band I owned a copy of their music, I was getting into some pretty weird music stuff for the time-I also enjoyed Dr. Demento. Zappa, Weird Al, to name a few. Clockwork Orange was my fave movie…Gee?
BUT…secretly behind what all my friends didn’t know, I also loved synth techno and original alternative. Depecehe Mode, zig zig sputnik, Ministry, Jesus and mary chain, Tones on tail, Peter Murphy( I was told once that Peter Murphy wasn’t goth-Obviously they never listened to Bauhuas, That is about as spooky goth as it get’s). Cure, Mission UK, Echo and the Bunnymen all the vintage alternative. I have forgotten 80% of the bands I listened to back in the day. Going past that-Green on red, velvet underground, iggy pop, In the 80’s, thousands of bands exploded on the scene-all the genre of today expanded from them. I loved the Industrial movement, went from scrappy punk to all black, couldn’t say I was goth but some though I was, I was more like a industrial cowpunk.
Now days, almost unrecognizable, most kids who are wild think I am just some regular guy who didn’t have any style. Like average Joe now, wouldn’t see one resemblance of one of the most notorious famous punks in my state. I was into the industrial violent…I guess I called it electronic punk. With my music now, I want to keep that overture but touch upon the new technology, I have seen the kids with two octave controllers at coffee shops, train tracks, malls, bus depots, running the streets with their lap top and small recording gear…Right ON guys and gals, keep that coming…you are my rock. I loved the techno also anything that was loud and had a pounding driving beat. I particularly love tribal repeat beats like a native American ritual dance. I am a pound hound. I think it is core for industrial music. I have added music that were flops and ass clowning around, adding in funny stuff, spoken word over the tracks, I love voice sampling. Even if it is stupid or sounds way off. Most of all my music is synth samples that I have recorded tracks into loops. I guess the old punk bands like dead kennedy’s, Circle Jerks, Misfits-I love them still-had always put stupid takes in their albums, I am just trying to carry on that tradition by adding weird stuff to my music. Plus that is a way for the listener to hear my music from years ago, I haven’t put in my cool stuff, but If you ask I could send you some-I was always kick ass a playing piano-not much use for a pianist in a punk band…reminds me of MY WAY-The Sex Pistols version>LOL I want to beeeeee Anarchy! Oh and I am 45…But with my music-that hardcore industrial and electronic-I can still whip some ass now can’t I? I will still crank that out on my death bed at 100-you just watch. I can knock out two or three songs a day. PEACE and I Love YOU. (My grandfather had a entire room full of classic organs=I used to play on them for hours)
