Pelifics with Electric Youth - Wish It Could Last (Poindexter Remix) by BRILLIANTINE published on 2012/10/09 18:35:48 +0000 Pelifics with Electric Youth Wish It Could Last (Remixes) BRILL009 Released 19 November 2012 1 Marius Våreid Extended Disco Version 2 Octo Octa Remix 3 Poindexter Remix 4 Sweet Track Remix Mastered by Andreas at Schnittstelle -- Here we’ve got four diverse remixes of this summer’s pop masterpiece from Pelifics featuring Electric Youth on vocals that we’re really proud of. First up is Norwegian Marius Våreid, a fixture at Prins Thomas’ Full Pupp with a hand-crafted enhancement of the disco leanings inherent in the original. When you hear it, you know that it was meant to happen just this way. Includes an extended outro so you can bathe in the receding washes of reverb for as little or as long as you would like. We’ve been hooked on Octo Octa since his Rough, Rugged & Raw cassette on 100% Silk (I was just listening to “Memories” this morning) so it was cause for celebration when he took this one on. What we got was distinctively Octo Octa, but the melancholy, medium-sized city ring road late evening take was a little unlike anything we’d heard from him before, and there’s nothing more exciting than that. POINDEXTER, from the other Portland on the West Coast that’s also pretty cool, recently emerged into the light with a couple super tracks and remixes on Kitsune and brought us a subtle, filtered, whipped nugget of a remix assembled by a light hand with a sure touch. Perfect for 5am pizza runs or fever dreams recreating Murphy Brown episodes as directed by Michel Gondry. Finally, Brilliantine’s own Sweet Track graces us once again with an analog remix that holds together by pure force of will and feeling and is all the better for it. It would be dumb for us to invoke the term “shoegazey”, but just by mentioning it like that, you maybe know a little what we’re talking about.
