My goal in this was to pull harmony + an easily identifiable, almost head-nodding, beat from an ambient and somewhat tempoless beginning. I chose source instruments built from sampling Buchla synthesizers so they would have an "otherworldly" quality to them (or at least not "off the shelf" synth sounds). Lastly, as is the case with most ambient music, I wanted to keep the instrumentation minimal, but full. There is a little peppering of filter manipulation and some volume automation, but otherwise it was a live manipulation and sequencing.
