Say "Ah" (Disquiet0266) by ikjoyce published on 2017-02-04T12:39:26Z This week's Junto involved recording my own voice, holding a vowel sound, and then making a track from that sample. I started by recording a rather lacklustre "Ah", a bit like being at the doctors. I wanted the voice to naturally decay and crack towards the end. I then processed the sample in Sound Forge, cutting small snippets and normalising them. No other processing was done. I imported these into AcidPro, and set about creating a track with them, layering and pitch shifting the samples, occasionally reversing them. I wanted to have a lot of tension building, so I used some close intervals. One of the samples was quite rhythmic, so I was careful to overlay the different copies so that the rhythm was shifted in each layer for more interest. We never gigged. Or actually played for that matter. Rehearsals were basically spent in the pub, drinking, and you can;t play a kazoo with beer in your mouth. Or in public, for that matter. :-) 2017-02-06T15:58:24Z Comment by 337is (three three seven is) Man it sparkles here rhythmically, nice work. 2017-02-06T13:58:48Z Comment by Daniel Diaz the intro build sounds like a crazy kazoo orchestra to me! love this track, bravo. 2017-02-06T12:33:31Z Comment by schtean I'd love to go to your doctor (@Hypoid) 2017-02-06T06:36:34Z Comment by schtean ok ... wow 2017-02-05T23:45:30Z Comment by W:I:L great way to say AH 2017-02-05T09:07:14Z Comment by Hypoid Great melody and rhythm, really like the snap the reversing adds :-) 2017-02-05T08:18:11Z Comment by hanklebury Wonderfully creative. 2017-02-05T03:10:50Z Comment by ikjoyce @disquiet 2017-02-04T12:40:10Z
