Cyclical AM(Disquiet0241) by ikjoyce published on 2016-08-11T23:03:21Z This week's Junto is to have the 'effect' in the foreground, while moving through several different source materials. My take on this is to consider Amplitude Modulation the effect, and explore the way multiple oscillators and waveforms work together. To achieve this, I set up a patch where 12 outputs from 10 different oscillators were fed into two sequential switches - one with four inputs, the other with 8. One sequential switch provides the carrier, the other one provides the modulator. A self-patched VCADSR was used to give some distinct tones via a VCA and CVF, and also act as master clock. The 8 step switch triggers the 4 step switch once per run through, so the patch steps through each carrier and modulator combination. To make things more interesting, I used a clock divider and a mixer to create a binary counter, which increases the index of the modulator after each cycle. To make things more interesting, two sequencers are used to control the length of the attach and release sections of the VCADSR - so the speed is constantly changing, which also allows the different timbres to have different shapes. I passed the final signal through a panner (with random panning tied to the master clock) and a springray spring reverb. No external effects or post processing were used. A 4 way switch coupled with a clock source, clock divider, and a four way matrix mixer can be used to create a complex sequencer. Lots of fun to be had! 2016-08-15T12:15:24Z Comment by gis_sweden @gis_sweden: And an interesting patch. I have yet to learn about sequential switches… Maybe one of the very useful modules you DON NOT buy as a beginner… 2016-08-15T07:06:51Z Comment by gis_sweden Something is trying to get out… 2016-08-15T06:53:52Z Comment by Counter Silence An unsettling but intriguing soundscape. 2016-08-13T16:52:34Z Comment by Hypoid Really like the random pan, as always, fun mod sounds! 2016-08-12T23:14:43Z Comment by WÜST some musique concrete feel here 2016-08-12T16:47:26Z Comment by ikjoyce @detritus-tabu: Cheers :-) 2016-08-12T07:57:25Z Comment by ikjoyce @detritus-tabu: Hehe - nice :-) 2016-08-12T07:56:48Z Comment by Detritus Tabu 3:33 ON THE DOT! 2016-08-12T02:07:08Z Comment by Detritus Tabu Nice.
