Like many children born into hardship in the ‘80s, Kelvin Terrell Boyd, a.k.a. “4 Waayy K,” lost his father to the prison system and was forced to grow up without male guidance. Exposed to the visual imagery of junkies and drugs at a young age, it wasn't hard to imagine the path his life would take.

Even as a young kid, 4 Waayy K felt the need to fill the absence of money in his pocket. By the age of 14, he had already become involved with illegal contraband. By the age of 18, 4 Waayy K was facing his first Class B felony, "Possession with Intent to Distribute," resulting in, among other restrictions, being expelled from his senior year of high school and five years of probation. In and out of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, 4 Waayy K was released from state prison in May 2011.

Shortly after his release, 4 Waayy K found himself unable to obtain gainful employment due to an extensive rap sheet and, instead, found himself relying on an old skill set. A friendly conversation with old pals grew into a business partnership "allegedly" grossing over a quarter million dollars in one fiscal quarter. When it all came crashing down 4 Waayy K was left holding the bag, which could result in his second drug-related felony offense, believed to hold severe consequences (4 Waayy K is currently awaiting trial). After two years on the run as a fugitive, 4 Waayy K was arrested in December of 2016 and held without bond. Left with no choice, 4 Waayy K retained one of the top defense attorneys in the state and was released the day before Christmas Eve 2016. Now that 4 Waayy K is home, he’s wholly committed to improving his life and using his music – which allows him to express his full range of emotions – to help him stay on the right path. “It’s therapeutic,” says 4 Waayy K. The result is a combination of honest and sincere lyrics with raw beats and a dark atmosphere.
