Hybrid Music features phonographic works ranging from straight-up field recordings to soundscapes created by Marcos Fernandes.
A native of Yokohama, Japan, Marcos Fernandes spent over three decades in California as performer, producer and curator. He has performed in the US, Canada, Mexico, Portugal, Hong Kong and Japan as a solo improviser, phonographer and as percussionist/sound artist with various ensembles, dancers, poets and visual artists. Fernandes' work can be heard on over 50 recordings on Accretions, Bake/Staalplaat, Circumvention, Cobra Discos, Disk Union, Enban, Less Than TV, Pax, Public Eyesore, Titicacaman and others. His current projects include Melt, TNBT, Uoichi, The Metaphors and The Tokyo Phonographers Union.
Fernandes has performed and/or recorded with Bill Horist, Carl Stone, George Lewis, Gianni Gebbia, Haco, Hans Fjellestad, K.K.Null, Kazuhisa Uchihashi, Kio Griffith, Lê Quan Ninh, Lisle Ellis, Mike Keneally, Miya Masaoka, Seiichi Yamamoto, Tetuzi Akiyama, Thomas Dimuzio, Yuji Katsui, Yuki Saga, Yuko Hirai, Yumiko Tanaka as well as with The Argonauts, Kokusai Obake Rengo, Misawa Hiroki & Okabayashi Rockn’roll Center, Niwa Jiro & Mother Complex, Marcelo Radulovich, Donkey, Lower Left Performance Collective, Nortec Collective, Seattle Phonographers Union and Skeleton Key Orchestra.
