Hot Potato Band Hot Potato Sydney Anything could happen! Known to cause a severe case of happy fever, this 10 piece brass band is sure to put a smile on your face in an incredibly unique live show. The Hot Potato Band have become one of the most celebrated festival bands in Australia. Evolving from their roots as a roving band on the streets of Sydney, they continue to capture their unique energy and interaction on stage. The band has put an Australian edge to its 'multi-genre' music which is influenced by ska, blues, funk, pop, reggae, afro-cuban and folk, as well as the classic brass band sounds of New Orleans. Beware, as they make you the centre of their performance… literally! The bands unique sound comes from the absence of a single drum kit, bass guitar and electrified instruments. Three drummers create synchronised grooves on a deconstructed drum kit. The bass lines are covered by an enormous, lung busting Sousaphone. Two baritone saxophones mimic the part of a rhythm guitar and the bands huge array of horns cover catchy chorus lines and provide a beautiful harmonic cloud for Dylan (the vocalist) to float above. Their debut track 'This Is How It Should Be' featuring the amazing voice of Dylan Wright. It was a summer full of amazing memories, the excitement of meeting new people, the music we played and heard, the countless trips to the beach, the endless nights, the raging parties, the uncontrollable laughter, and of course the love. All of these things inspired this up beat, ska and reggae fuelled track. Enjoy with your summer!
