Horia Dumitrache is a Clarinet player. His rich repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary masterworks, including a number of commissions. As soloist and chamber musician, he builds a complex character into the music through his captivating stage presence.
His international acknowledgment as a specialist in the performance of contemporary music, lead him to some of most famous festivals and concert halls around the world. Recent and future highlights include Elliot Carter’s Clarinet Concerto in Biennale Bern, Franco Donatoni “Portal” with Bern Symphony Orchestra, Lucerne Festival (Culture and Congress Center KKL), Paris (Centre Pompidou), Salzburger Festspiele, Salzburg Biennale, Wien Modern (Mozart Saal), Encuentros Buenos Aires (Teatro Colon), Tokyo (Opera City), Milano, Paul Klee Zentrum Bern, Kaposvári Fesztivál, Beijing (Concert Hall), Musica Hoy Madrid and Schwetzingen Festspiele.
He is often invited to be part of the jury at international competitions and he has also planned and run relevant and productive workshops and Masterclasses containing the technics and interpretation in classical and new music, in cities such as Taipei, Istanbul, Brasov, Piatra Neamt, Bistrita, Veszprem.
Besides the interpretation of classical and contemporary works, Horia Dumitrache deals with free improvisation and electronic music.
Horia Dumitrache has been mostly playing with Lajos Rozmán, Beat Furrer, Pierre Boulez, Péter Eötvös, Marian Lejava, Ivan Buffa, Sylvain Cambreling, Johannes Kalitzke, Toshio Hosokawa, Heinz Holliger, Emilio Pomarico, Enno Poppe, Hector Para, Jorge Sánchez-Chiong, and with Ensembles such as Klangforum Wien, KNM Berlin, Metrum Ensemble, Zafraan Ensemble, Quasars Ensemble, Phoenix Basel and Paul Klee Bern.
