The conference was generously supported by: an NUI Galway President's Award for Research Excellence (awarded to Prof. Steven Ellis); the Moore Institute, NUI Galway; the Discipline of History, NUI Galway and the Society for Renaissance Studies. In this episode, a recording of the opening plenary address which was given by Professor Mary O’Dowd from Queen's University Belfast. Her paper was entitled 'Age as a category of analysis: an agenda for early modern Ireland?'. Professor O’Dowd was introduced by Professor Marian Lyons from Maynooth University.
