Hind Ear Brighton If you’ve heard their hard-shelled and hymnal coconut, then you’ll know this is a band for all of your ears, not just that tiny, magic one hidden round the back. - Pinglewood Rising from the debris of distorted guitars and ritualised harmonies this Coconut is quickly strapped to the vicious wheel of a pounding drum machine, it’s pastoral beauty barely allowed to peak above the surface before being smacked into something altogether more muscular. Tendons flexed it strides over a ravaged countryside away from the dawn. Halfway there, it turns to glimpse the sun rise behind it before pressing on, bouncing over fields, its giant form casting shadows of cyclopean beauty before it. - 20 Jazz Funk Greats Hind Ear are a technicolour rhythm band from Brighton and London. They use guitars, electronics, voices and drums to fuse hearts to feet and headphones to dancefloors. They are influenced by post-filesharing aesthetic promiscuity, from Black Dice to Black Eyes, Chicago House to contemporary R&B, Fleetwood Mac to Jim O’Rourke. AA) Coconut builds from distorted likembe and deep bass into a rhythmic wall of looped guitar, vocals and jiggy percussion, before stretching out into a pastoral delay freakout. A) Origami progresses through four-to-the-floor kick and organ drone into a taut jam of elastic bass, pitch-shifted vocals and heavy disco, developing along the line that runs from minimalism to dance music. These songs are about broken percussion and near-death experiences. They were recorded in houses and basements across Brighton, using amplifiers in kitchens, keyboards in toilets and shoes as kick drums, and were mixed by David Edwards of Minotaur Shock in January 2010. Live, Hind Ear add a muscular presence to the depth and detail of their recordings. Over the past year they have played with like-minded acts including Mi Ami, High Places and Mahjongg, and are preparing for shows in the UK and Europe in the coming months. http://www.myspace.com/hindear hind_ear@hotmail.co.uk Hind Ear’s tracks Piano by Hind Ear published on 2012-04-25T12:25:53Z Drumpatter 8 by Hind Ear published on 2012-04-25T12:19:11Z ChampionLeagues (live demo) by Hind Ear published on 2012-04-04T10:40:53Z TwoClutch by Hind Ear published on 2012-04-03T14:37:39Z Rainman (version) by Hind Ear published on 2011-08-31T10:10:37Z Yellow Yellow by Hind Ear published on 2011-08-31T09:33:29Z Space by Hind Ear published on 2011-08-31T09:29:51Z Origami by Hind Ear published on 2010-04-21T13:29:00Z Coconut by Hind Ear published on 2010-04-21T13:21:28Z
