himeee (Makiko Tanaka) Makiko Tanaka Amsterdam⇄Berlin←Japan Her devout musical philosophy represents a way of life. Producing an explosive sonic landscape that fuses the primitive and the futuristic. As if it would sting sweetly with emotional spectrum. She was raised up by her father who has a taste for Jazz such as ECM, while drinking milk. When she was 3 years old, she started to play classic piano and ballet. In adolescence age, she was influenced by punk/hardcore music then began to play bass guitar. One day when she was a high school student, she coincidentally came across hip hop dance that made her change her lifestyle dramatically. Since then, she has strenuously danced on the street or in the club to be into the groove. Aspiration for it became intense as starting house dance that addressed her intimate underground music culture. She was exploring a myriad of parties not only her home city Osaka, Japan used to hold jumbled up club scene but also all over the world. She has met many DJs spinning a yawn of vinyl-love and music-love purist. Finally in 2007, after engaging in party organizing at special occasions such as beautiful temples in Kyoto, she has started her career as a Sunday afternoon lounge DJ at Japonica music store, in Kyoto where was the record shop with a gallery space and decks known to those in the know. the party named Antenna was thrown up by all female DJs. Then she became a member of the party ‘Krauss’ in Osaka which was renown to upcoming minimal techno and also participated in the performance unit ‘DETROITJAXX’ consisting of dancers with lighting devices and DJs after her first visit to Berlin with them. Moved to Berlin in 2014. Needless to say, genuine musical wonderland made her seriously be keen on production to date. Currently, she settles down in Amsterdam, while working as writer, vegan chef&activist and spiritual devotee, just an eternal dreamer.
