David Shaw and The Beat - Finders Keepers (La Royale and Yesco remix) ***PREVIEW*** by Her Majesty's Ship published on 2013/04/08 14:14:16 +0000 David Shaw and The Beat "Finders Keepers - Remixes" Label : Her Majesty's Ship Catalog : HMS008 Digital Release : 29th April 2013 One year after inception, the Her Majesty’s Ship label is sailing along nicely. Here the Parisian outlet takes time to revisit a track from its vaults - David Shaw’s ‘Finders Keepers’ from Shaw’s recent full length – and serves up two brand new remixes from the newcomer of the Mexican disco scene, La Royale, along with Death in Vegas man Richard Fearless. It is one of a number of album tracks getting remixed as Shaw himself continues to play live around the world. First up, La Royale proposes a club version of the original clearly designed with the dancefloor in mind. His version strikes a well-poised pose between mechanical techno drive and a funky synth lead. It also brings a whole new dimension to the voice by placing it unexpectedly in the arrangement, making it hover over our heads like a wispy cloud. The second reversion comes from the much-lauded electronic experimentalist Richard Fearless who has been the driving force behind Death in Vegas for decades. His version is typically dark and analogue, with fizzing electronics and sparking synth sounds fleshing out a stripped back, Kraftwerkian styled electro groove. This is a release that proves Her Majesty’s Ship not only release great music in original form, but so too have a great ear for A&R which turns up essential yet quite different remixes.
