Henrik Schwarz - 99% by HenrikSchwarz published on 2020-06-05T07:00:35Z 99% by Henrik Schwarz If ever there was a time to dig deep into the vaults and serve up some long-sought-after curios and unheard explorations, it’s now... The politically charged, slightly indie-tinged ‘99%’ and ‘Endangered Species’ plus that mythical, not to mention beautiful, acoustic version of his 2010 club anthem ‘Once Again’ have become the stuff of spotters’ legend and staples of Henrik’s sets over the years. They have yet to see the light of day... Until now. Schwarz has also included two more unique and timeless pieces from his sprawling polymath portfolio. ‘Zentrifuge Movement3’ was written as the sound part of an installation by German painter Norbert Bisky. Based around the vocal textures of renown baritone Tom Erik Li (Komische Oper Berlin) and using a loudspeaker that rotated above people’s heads, the music was reflected by the surrounding walls. In a classic Schwarz precision, one rotation of the speaker was exactly four beats long, so the sound synched to the room itself. ‘Pylon’ has a similarly experimental genus as it’s rooted in his long-standing work with orchestras and quartets. A subversion on his usual technique of using an electronic source for the strings to work around, on this he used the quartet to form the basis of the arrangement, melodic and rhythmic structure. Once again, it reflects Schwarz’s work across multiple disciplines and his ability to weave analog and organic elements in the most natural way. 99% by name, 100% by nature, expect more long-sought-after curious and unheard explorations to be added to this ever expanding album, creating a full length album package in the future.
