St Luke's Steps by HAVR published on 2020-06-19T22:42:56Z This week's songwriting assignment was to start with a colour and free-associate, so it got me thinking about drinking red wine with a good friend. St Luke's is a real place (although the photo I've used is unrelated) – it's in Glasgow and I was aiming for a nostalgic Glaswegian sound to match, so there's a bit of a Blue Nile vibe to this one. Lyrics: We talked three hours sitting on St Luke’s steps With wine the colour of the dye in our hair in plastic glasses from a cheap picnic set I cried when i left You saved a life tonight I was my best self for a while but i don’t know what I’ll do when i can’t reach out to you We talked of mutuals and crowds and looked for faces in the clouds on stone church steps I confessed the only secrets I had left You saved a life tonight I was my best self for a while but i don’t know what I’ll do when i can’t reach out to you Comment by QJB and No Prima Donnas Really nice nostalgic feel, Glasgow or not.
