Kumbh Mela 2013: Design, Health and Finance in a Pop-Up Megacity | M-RCBG by Harvard University published on 2013-10-10T19:46:31Z This seminar was given by John Macomber of the Harvard Business School on October 10, 2013 as part of M-RCBG’s business and government seminar series. Every 12 years, millions of Hindu pilgrims travel to the Indian city of Allahabad for the Kumbh Mela, the largest public gathering in the world. Estimates are that as many as 30 million people visited in a single day this past February, and that up to 200 million visited over the eight week event. Harvard was represented by a team of 35 researchers studying how devotion, health, finance and policy come together in the world’s largest pop-up megacity. HBS professor John Macomber discusses some of their findings.
