Wind-up Sad Clown (disquiet0034-theradius) by Gurdonark published on 2012/08/26 00:10:00 +0000 The first 14 seconds of this piece is the intro to The Radius. I took three samples from this track and used them as samples in the Sawcutter 2.0 software synthesizer, a pre-VST software synthesizer and sampler/sequencer ideal for working with curious sound samples. I created three different "voices", two more (or much, much less) melodic, and one more or less percussive. In addition to various delay, chorus and reverb fx in the synthesizer, I added a tape simulation effect from Magix Samplitude 14 and used the "slow walker" preset from CableGuys "Pancake" VST effect. The song is the aural equivalent of a clown whose electronica-like lights and flashes are brought to life by the Gepetto of a wind-up key. The best clowns are the sad clowns, as every bit of laughter has within it the tinge of past or future tears. All of the sounds are from the original sample, which is the sound logo for a cool radio series The source audio for this track is the jingle, or sound logo, for the Radius broadcast series, based in Chicago.
