Well hello there..
3rd person writing ain't my style, so here goes..! All me, nuthin' but me. :-D
I got a copy of Reason 1.5 in 2005 and got stuck in. I'd been playing guitar in an experimental Funk band, and our bass player had a laptop triggering samples and synth pads, even strange noises, so I wanted to have a go too. Then I got 2 turntables and some records to sample from, and realised how much fun it was mixing Vinyl! Baby steps were getting a residency playing Bossa, Jazz, and Funk (with an admittedly 'freestyle' approach to mixing!) and then with learning more from 2 Sydney Hip-Hop DJ's about blending, beatmatching and tricks of the trade, I got 4 crates worth of wax and played weddings, parties, pubs, clubs, houses, my front porch, anything.
After 2 years of refining my style into something relatively identifiable, in 2007 I independently released my debut CD album 'Bossa Beat Trip' - which I'm happy to say sold out! I've released 3 digital EP's via Juno download, 'Discoteca Latina', (with a fine fine remix by San Diego based Producer Danny Massure) 'B-Funk',(with 2 outstanding remixes by BadboE from Denmark, and Melbourne's own Sard Boogie) and now 'Let's Roll!' with yet another killer remix by one of Sydney's premier Breaks DJ / Producers, Omegaman.
I'm a bit lucky to have those dudes on board, no doubt! :-D
And what else?
I won Record Kicks 'Scaramunga!' remix competition several months back, which lead to a digital 'Scaramunga Remixed!' EP, which also had Lack Of Afro, Ray Lugo, Tunefunk, and Valique featured. Cool huh? :-D That same remix is also being released on the upcoming 'Soul Shaker Vol 7'- which features the best in Deep Funk, Afrobeat, and Dancefloor Jazz style stuff around, on CD, AND Vinyl! wax baby, awright! October 25th is the Europe release date, check it out on
I did a remix for BadboE of 'Spread The Words' (turning it into a late night Bossa / Breaks thing) which has been released via Juno Download, and topped the sales charts there for a long time - an absolute pleasure to be involved with that! That album also had Danny Massure, Pulp Fusion, Fuzzbox INC, Jayl Funk, Fort Knox 5, Tal M Klein and more of the cream of the Breaks scene doing remixes - killer job by all!
I repaid Danny Massure with a remix of a band on his Label, Satellite 4, with a remix of 'Clock Cleaner' which he used as the promo single. Cool. Check that here..
Another remix release is for Mr Bird, with my take on 'Flip Disco' which is out via Pig Balls Records. You can check that here..
Next - got remixes of my 10 piece Funk Band, 'B-Dub Groove Revue' released in 2010, with Mr Bird, Mr Chombee, Sard Boogie, and myself on that. Unfortunately, due to the usual creative differences thing, that project came to an end. We played 2 gigs NYE 2011 to over 14,000 people before that though, so that was a nice way to end it. It was a pretty slamming live show, when we had it together!
I had a release hiatus for awhile, concentrated on getting my Jazz guitar chops together, as well as DJ gigs. I was making more Jazz Hip-Hop beats for myself, as well as to jam along with. One ended up on Brother Sard Boogie's 2013 album release, 'Funky Walker, Dirty Talker'. The track ended up being known as 'Easy To Earn', and made the Vinyl release. Awesome.
Also, I then ended up laying guitar on 4 tracks for recent Pedigree Cuts signing Ewan Hoozami, on his album Robot Soul, which was a very cool thing to play be involved with. All via the interweb, baby! Massive thanks to the man for the opportunity, and belief in what I presented to him.
Go get some Robot Soul right here.. Or i-Tunes, if you like.
Pretty sure that covers everything right about now.
Please feel free to swing by and say hi via whatever form of social media takes your fancy - always nice to hear from like minded people, no matter who you are or where you're from!
Gracias, amigos! Peacenlove to you all.
