Rogov is the solo project from multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and singer Gregory Rogove. In Rogov, Gregory concocts dark yet hopeful songs enshrouded in inventive arrangements, slinky rhythms, hooky melodies, and psyche textures. You might hear traces of the Kinks, Syd Barret, the Beatles, Radiohead, Moondog, and Simon Diaz bubbling under his unique take on music making. He released the debut Rogov EP Hooops in 2016 and will put out his new set of songs as monthly singles, starting in September, 2018.
His previous projects include: Piana, Megapuss (w/ Devendra Banhart), Priestbird, and Tarantula AD. He is a long-time drummer and collaborator with Devendra Banhart, recording and touring together since 2007. He has worked with a number of other artists including: Rodrigo Amarante, Niia, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Natalia LaFourcade, CocoRosie, Sons of the Sea (Brandon Boyd), and Zavalaz (members of Mars Volta), Adam Green, Flo Morrissey, among others. He released an album of solo piano compositions called Piana, for which John Medeski (Medeski Martin & Wood) performed his pieces for the recording. Rogove toured in support of this release, sharing a bill with members of Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, and Medeski Martin & Wood. His production work with Mexican artist Natalia LaFourcade earned him a Grammy in 2013.
