Marcus Clark Connecticut Marcus Clark, also known as “Gold”, grew up in Hartford, Connecticut and has been rapping since the age of fourteen. Gold decided early on that instead of conforming to the environment around him that he would use his lyrical talent to create a better life for himself. Music was not only the way out of his environment, but it also taught him about swag. Gold learned how to talk to the ladies through listening to Boyz II Men. He wrote his first rhyme when he penned a poem to a young lady that lived across the street from him. His influences in the game now are: Nas, Biggie, and Jay-Z; but, he attributes his first inspiration to music to Michael Jackson. Gold has won a number of contests and battles including: Hartford Heads Held High Talent Show in 2002, Bar with no name battles seven times in a row in 2003, and Holla Back Video’s best song of the year in 2011. He has several records currently spinning on WZMX Hot 93.7, 89.3 (Trinity College Radio) and WQTQ 89.9.
