ROBERT ELHAI is a music composer, orchestrator, and arranger. As a theater composer his projects include Twisted Apples: Stories from Winesburg, Ohio, presented by Nautilus Music Theater at 4 venues around Minnesota in March-April of 2017. He also wrote scores for C., a music theater adaption of Cyrano de Bergerac produced in April 2016 at Theater Latté Da, as well as Persephone's Sister, the final piece in Nautilus' Ivey-Award-winning Sister Stories.
As an orchestrator, he is the recipient of Tony and Drama Desk nominee for his work for the Broadway production of The Lion King. He orchestrated the Ivey-award winning production of Glensheen at the History Theater in St. Paul, and the upcoming production of Sweet Land the Musical..He has contributed orchestrations for over 130 film scores including Avengers 2, Iron Man 3, Thor 2, the third, fourth, fifth, seventh, and upcoming eighth Fast and Furious movies, the third and fourth Batman movies, Across The Universe, The Sixth Sense, and the first Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as the Oscar-winning score for Frida. He did the arrangement for Metallica’s Grammy Award-winning The Call of Ktulu with the San Francisco Symphony . He has often collaborated with composers Elliot Goldenthal, Brian Tyler, Michael Kamen, Klaus Badelt, and many others. He holds degrees from Yale University, the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, and Carleton College, and lives in Minneapolis with his wife and two sons.
