GiZap aka Giuseppe Zapparoli was a prolific self-taught musician, song writer, composer, a silent poet, a great father, adventurer, lover of the sea and his boat, nature, interested in music, politics, sport, literature, science, history, cosmos, stars, art, geography, science-fiction, books.....many books for all his life .
He was passionate about music with his first theoretical concepts of music in the early age of 12.
From 1960 he started to play guitar with the teacher: Maestro Bignotto in Verona.
He performed with the group "Sorci Verdi" in his home town Isola della Scala in the province of Verona until 1968 , then comes the military service.
Between 1970-1990 He wrote his own songs , lyrics and arrangements for guitar.
After a long break, He restarted with music again, forming the group of "Electric Spiders" in Erbè (VR) where he lived with his family.
With his Pop-Rok Band , he was playing guitar, writing all the arrangements for the instruments and singing, until his death in 2015.
The Band was performing every year in a festival at BOVO Theater in Isola della Scala .
He always had a dream: to compose his own music, and carried it from 2008 onwards (at sixty years of age being retired) as self-taught amateur, genre New Age and very personal contemporary stile, writing it and realizing it with a midi - software to write the music and another one to orchestrate it with various instruments in the score. His dream was to listen one day his own compositions for orchestra performed by a group with real instruments. This dream, was in part realized by his daughter Marta.
Giuseppe in 2015 at the age of 66 was hit by an aggressive form of cancer that did not give him a chance to survive. One week before he died, in December 2015, his daughter Marta organized a group of 10 professional musicians from Berlin to record in a short time of one day recordings, three of his compositions with real instruments.
Giuseppe could at least in his last days of life to listen and enjoy three of the compositions he composed, played by a real orchestra !
The promise made by Marta to her father was to move the project forward and to play with real instruments the rest of the remaining 48 compositions, and to spread his music as much she could!
From January 2017 is out a memorial CDr with 19 selected compositions from Giuseppe's music archive.
"His music will keep Him alive forever in my hearts and memories. And for those who did not know his music before, has the chance to listen to it now!
I promised to Him to make known his music as much I can, and as I will find money support to make it happen, step by step the project will go forward!
This is the minimum at least I can do for one of the most important person as a father an musician which has deeply marked my life in many ways !
**Dad, thanks for being my inspiration and my guide in all these years! Everything you have given to me, it is a treasure which I will keep with me forever and use it until I’m on this planet! **M
With great Admiration and Affection,
