Abstrusion in Four Movements, Movements 3-4 by Paul F. Ferguson published on 2013-05-17T07:51:07Z This was recorded in 2010 I think? It was a prepared banjo dulcimer improvisation. A banjo dulcimer is a little handmade instrument I got off ebay, four strings, major scale frets. It's a weird thing, but I like it. I wrote a sketch for it with four different preparations, and just noodled around with them for a while until this happened. And then I figured I wouldn't tell anyone what the preparations were or how they were used, but would lay clues into the track itself. In these last two sections the preparations are pretty obvious. Especially the last one. There's also a distorted electric piano, because IT SEEMED NECESSARY. The first two movements aren't that interesting, so I thought I'd chop 'em off. Goodbye! Not that the rest is riveting, but thaaaaaat's my life. Inspiration from Bill Horist and Fred Frith, Mike Oldfield.
