GIFT HORSE: inside NY ART Jeffrey Wengrofsky NY The injunction to avoid gazing in the mouths of horses is among the most enduring and popular clichés, and yet doing so would certainly have saved the ancient Trojans a good bit of grief. Gift Horse: Inside New York Art, a new, weekly podcast series will look deeply into the arts to find unique voices and perverse visions in New York City and beyond. Our guests will include a wide range of artists from the past and present: actors, directors, musicians, painters, photographers, curators, impresarios, and writers. Gift Horsewill be broadcast weekly by RADIO INICIATYVA (http://i-radio.in/), an independent Ukrainian internet radio station produced by the Dzyga Art Association of Lviv beginning on October 8, 2014. RADIO INICIATYVA (i-radio) will foster cultural exchange through arts programs originating in Ukraine, Italy, Serbia, Poland, and the United States. It is a revival of one of the first Ukrainian radio station to focus on “alternative culture.” The Hosts: Jeffrey Wengrofsky teaches at New York University and was the host of Profiles of the Downtown Music Scene at The New School. He has served on the staff of Aperture Photography Magazine, Constellations: An International Journal of Critical and Democratic Theory, and Coilhouse Magazine. His films have opened the Berkeley Video and Film Festival 2013 and the 2012 Stranger Than Fiction Film Festival at the IFC Theater, and they have been Official Selections of DOC NYC 2011, Boston LGBT Film Festival 2012, Boston Reelfest 2012, New Filmmakers New York 2012, the Beahive (Beacon Arts Council), and the Beacon Independent Film Festival 2013.
