Ged Flood Ged Flood London I grew up listening to all kinds of music. Having Irish parents and older brothers who played a lot of traditional stuff, I guess folk, singer songwriter and trad were my first real influences. Later on I began listening to a lot of 70's rock music - Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple and then Heavy Metal, Punk and New Wave plus some good pop music. I went on to form a rock band back in my home town of Reading and played around Berkshire and occasionally London for a few years. Some years later I became interested in home recording. I started with an 8 track DAW progressing to a 16 track and later Logic Studio software. I then began recording my own songs and tunes. I sent some tracks to music libraries/production music companies and Boosey & Hawkes amongst others offered me a publishing deal. I moved to London a few years later and have a lovely studio set up in the back garden (see main pic). In the last few years I've been writing and recording songs for Mishaped Pearls, a very unique folk/world music band which I formed with Manuela Schuette, a mezzo soprano who sings in seven languages. We have a 7 piece band and have released three albums over the last few years. The latest 'Thamesis' has been published by Bucks Music and has garnered high praise in the press including 4 stars in The Guardian, The Telegraph and The Scotsman as well as numerous play on The BBC. The band has played many festivals/concerts/gigs all over the UK. We also tour the Auvergne and Lot regions of France most summers. I still continue to write for music libraries and am currently doing a part-time Masters Degree in Popular Music at Goldsmiths University.
