Gayance Aïsha Vertus Montreal / Amsterdam DJ / producer Gayance (real name Aïsha Vertus) takes her alias from the Hatian creole word for joyfulness. Born / raised in Montreal, 1st generation Haitian descent she’s been DJing since the past decade and has been tearing down venues in Amsterdam, Paris, Sao Paulo, London and more. Her production are influenced by Afro-Caribbean diasporic music from North America and the UK which she calls creole music : London’s UKG and bruk, and the Detroit and New York iconic sound, with nods to the vivid, sun-soaked colours of Afro-Latinx culture are inspirations for her.. Aïsha has put out a string of entirely self-released projects since 2021. These songs range from odes to underground ukg with soulful melodies, to loving nods to afro-diasporic electronic music influences that are treated with the utmost respect and understanding.
