I am a Christian Mystic, a Christian Ecstatic, a New Mystic as opposed to the old Roman Catholic mystics. I value all their experiences, miracles & writings about union with God, but I don't buy into all their theology. Thus I am a Reformed Mystic (as in The Reformation) because while wholeheartedly embracing experiential union with the awesome Goodness of the uncreated God ours in Christ it's not about me or you or the experience at all. It's about Him & His Glory. I'm just being who I was created and now re-created to be. I do love the Bible and know our salvation, our redemption, our ALL is in Christ by Grace through Faith in the Finished Work of the Cross. That means I believe all the happy benefits & promises of God are available to us now as we accept the truth of the Stupendous News of the Gospel, and our only real "works" are to believe.
I am also a Christian Hedonist in that I believe we are created for bliss & pleasure, and that pleasure is only completely found in a supernaturally emotional oneness & love relationship with Father, Son & Holy Spirit, just as they have always had with themselves . The word Eden in Hebrew means pleasure. Although unredeemed human emotions can obviously get you in trouble the Bible says our "old man", our sinful nature, our fallen nature is dead. It was cut away when we mystically, timelessly died in Christ 2000 years ago which was all by His doing. But as I believe and embrace that for myself I experience His emotions, His Joy, His Love, His Enthusiasm, His Compassion instead of the best I could hope to muster up using my own willpower. So if I don't need to be concentrating on a task at hand I'm likely to be found hanging out in the Presence of God, feasting on the Lamb, whether alone or with fellow believers in a love drunk state of intoxication with one foot in heaven & one on the earth.
Eat, oh lovers, and drink till you are drunk with love! (Song of Solomon 5:1) Good News Translation
The only real bane of my existence is religion which I define as mankind's efforts to reach union with God through their own efforts. It is do-it-yourself spirituality which looks like it should be good, but actually keeps people separated from God because it denies or ignores what He has already done for us in the gift of His Son. And unfortunately way too many people practice Christianity itself as a religion, or they mix grace with self-effort & live in a state of continual striving thinking that is required.
What does that have to do with sounds & tunes? Everything in my mind. Jesus or Yeshua is my sweet, sweet Song, my loving melody, my dancing rhythm, and I live in a state of worship & communion with Him. That is expressed in everything I do, but especially my music as a bass guitar player, and in my writing. If you have any questions and interest I'd love to turn you on to the joys of knowing God for yourself. You'll find it's the only thing that really satisfies.
P.S. Some things I will post here will not be my own efforts, but will be that of friends who've given me permission to share their creative works. Love & Bliss
