I go by the name of Funny Bone. This is my story. (2008 - current day)
- I started rapping highly influenced by my older brother Cesar, also known as "Cambyo" (originally spelled 'cambio' meaning change in spanish, but he tweaked it a little by spelling it with a 'y' instead of an 'i'). Anyways, I picked up the mic the same day my cousin Angel, also known as "ThatKidYoung" did. Cambyo told me and Angel to feature on a song with him called 'Hot Topic' for the heck of it. After recording and releasing it on MySpace (www.myspace.com/themakeawishteam), we decided to form a rap trio known as the 'Make~A~Wish' crew. Which after a few weeks, we separated.
- Since my brother owned a studio, I wrote & recorded a few songs with Cambyo. Some of them you might remember like the smash hit, 'Life of a Star' which I first released on MySpace, was then available for free download on SoundClick (www.soundclick.com/cambyo). Followed by a few more singles like the 'Paper Planes (Remix)', 'Welcome 2 Da Life,' and 'Tonite' all featuring Cambyo.
- L.N.S. (Late Nite Session) was created and led by my brother Cambyo. L.N.S. created in the summer consisted of six members; Cambyo, ThatKidYoung, T.O., JR, Cristian, and myself. The group didn't last long but before all members disbursed, the crew released a free download eight track mixtape on SoundClick named "L.N.S. Files" (www.soundclick.com/cambyo).
- As a solo artist, I began writing to instrumentals which hatched the idea to make a mixtape of my own. I gathered some beats on my iPod, created a playlist of seven tracks and finished writing to every single song in under a month! After recording every song with the help of my brother, I released the "First Showcase - EP" on SoundClick for free download (www.soundclick.com/cambyo)! The actual hard copy featured a bonus track named 'The La La Song' extending the mixtape total to eight tracks. Finishing high school, I released 'School's Out (Graduation)' on SoundClick for free download as well (www.soundclick.com/cambyo).
- Before dropping out of college, I landed a spot in the "Diversity Through the Arts" event. Cambyo & I shared the position performing songs from his "Love & Hip Hop" mixtape (www.soundclick.com/cambyo) with my "First Showcase - EP." With the success that followed after, I was motivated and determined to make another mixtape. Some random night; Cambyo, ThatKidYoung, and myself reunited at a local restaurant to form another rap trio known as the 'e.p.a.R Kids.' Listening to Tyler, The Creator & Childish Gambino, their music really influenced how my second album sounded. "MELLO?" was released July 12, 2012 with guest appearances by T.O. and the e.p.a.R Kids. A nine track mixtape that left many youngsters brain dead. The sudden change of sound I was aiming for was a dramatic change from my first masterpiece. Abusive language, silly jokes, and Dr. Pepper referrals really had the public questing who I was becoming. 'MELLO?' had a huge accomplishment over the internet with the help of my friends and family to get '#MELLO2012' trending in Chicago on Twitter [shout out to my big brother Cambyo for the idea] !
- Concluding my music career with the prolonged project, 'Generation Y.' I hope you guys love it. Thank you for your patience!
