More on me:
I am an average 22 year old guy with a passion for music and a love for Deejaying. I may be an amateur as it stands but everyday I look at different ways to improve my sound and make my mixing tighter and cleaner. I do this because I genuinely, wholeheartedly, love doing it and nothing else feels as good as it does.
My forté is House Music in general, but to be more specific, I am a huge fan of Progressive House (The REAL Progressive House). I grew up listening to John Digweed, Nick Warren, Deep Dish, Sasha and Satoshi Tommiie, to name a few, and always loved the vibe and emotion they put out. So, a pinch of Trance, but mainly Progressive/Techno/Deep House. Recently I've also been into industial/indie/experimental techno and electronica. Bass/future house has also become a thing with me. It never hurts to get dirty underground with it as well.
Deep house was a big part of my childhood and, to this day, I feel nothing beats a proper, soulful, deep house track. I think this stemmed from my love of Jazz, Soul and R&B as well.
From those roots, I started expanding into Electro House and Minimal in 2004 and matured as it did, with all it's variations. I've always liked the idea of DJs and being able to perform and make an entire room groove to what they are playing and feel what they are feeling/want people to feel, but didn't know how to do it myself. In 2006 my cousin introduced me to Virtual DJ and thats where it all started. (yes, Virtual DJ, lame I know, but you gotta start somewhere right?) These were my "baby steps". This got the ball rolling and soon after I started exploring more sub-genres like Fidget and Tech House and loved mixing all these different sounds together and making them work.
I recently started playing at a few of my friends parties and saw that they liked what I did, so I went out and bought myself some decks (which I use to record all my mixes) to get experience with actual hardware. This led to the use of Traktor (which I don't often use), and I started to seriously play around with different mixing techniques. After that, I went out and got a Pioneer DDJ-SX to familiarise myself with Serato and Pioneer layout. I love using these - there are so many possibilities with 4 deck and 4 channel capabilities + effects panels + performance pads. They add a whole new dimension to my mixing. This lead to experience with CDJ2000s and thereafter learning to mix the traditional way, VINYL BABY. (After learning that I have such massive respect for vinyl DJs). So, I kind of floundered around the place in terms of media/equipment/technology but I now have a proper understanding of all of them and the different techniques involved.
I do not currently produce my own music, however it's something that I would like to get into. I have had some experience messing around with Reason (which was the best production software back in the day) and FruityLoops a while back, but didn't really get anywhere with that. I have a lot of ideas that I would like to convert to soundwaves, hopefully soon. So watch this space! :)
So, this is why I started a Soundcloud page; to record and share my stuff with everyone and get feedback to let me know whether I am progressing or regressing. My hopes are to practice and practice to the stage where I am good enough to play at a proper night club. Thats really what I want to do but I know I have a lot of work to do before I get there.
So enjoy, and please like, share, follow and comment. :)
Thanks guys. ;)
