Freddy Sheinfeld (b. 1974, Caracas) is a Los Angeles-based composer with a decade-long career in writing music for film and television.
You can listen to his music on hundreds of TV episodes of shows like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Yu-Gi-Oh series. His work on film includes the multimillion-dollar blockbuster Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie, Where I Stand: The Hank Greenspun Story, portrayed by Anthony Hopkins and winner of several film festivals in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Denver, San Diego and Atlanta, Disney's The Proud Family Movie and La Hora Cero, the biggest action film ever made in Venezuela.
Freddy is also known for his work on major TV documentaries like Discovery Channel’s Egypt's New Tomb Revealed, King Tut's Mystery Tomb Opened and the Apollo 13 documentary: The Inside Story of Apollo 13, which contains previously unseen NASA footage of these events. Additionally, Freddy’s music is featured on Shark Week’s Ocean of Fear, which was the highest-rated Discovery Channel show when first aired on television.
One of Freddy’s strong suits is his versatility. In addition to TV and film, his music accompanies a few permanent museum exhibits including: Simon Wiesenthal’s Tribute (a multimedia presentation on the life and legacy of Simon Wiesenthal) and In Our Time, both at the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles and the New York Tolerance Center. His music features the beautiful voice of singer Lizbeth Scott (Avatar, The Passion of the Christ, Transformers, Shrek) and Chris Bleth’s duduk (Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Up, X-Men, Pirates of the Caribbean).
Besides his dramatic orchestral work, Freddy is also a passionate electronic music artist. He participated in The C-Sound Book, a seminal textbook of computer music published by MIT, and has written music for several video game productions.
Freddy majored in Film Scoring and Music Synthesis at Berklee College of Music, graduating Magna Cum Laude. In 2001, he received the prestigious "Robert Moog Award" (for achievements in electronic music). After graduation, Freddy won the first prize of a nationwide annual competition sponsored by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, leading him to the Academy Internship Program, where he worked with TV composers Alf Clausen (The Simpsons), Steve Branson (JAG, The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones) and Jonathan Wolf (Seinfeld, Will and Grace).
In March 2010, Freddy earned Lawful Permanent Resident status in the United States as an Alien of Extraordinary Abilities in the Arts, thanks to his achievements and international acclaim.
Currently, Freddy lives and works in Pasadena, California.
