Mission Of The Sun by Franck Biyong published on 2015-12-18T09:12:40Z Hot on the heels of 2014 release, “Liyomba” and recent teaser, “End of The Road”, MOONWATCHING is a superb melding of man and machine that delivers a sound as frenetic, full of surprises and layered as the present world. Kicking off with “Silence in Music”, the very soundtrack of a cyber apocalypse, Franck puts his distinct electric guitar touch with a spirited screech that slices through the measured and militant waves of sound. “King Fripp” comes across as bouncy and spacey as does “End of the Road” with additional 80s disco vibes and a sensation of speed; a hectic race towards the future. “Mission of the Sun” opens with a deceptive mellowness that belies the subsequent heavy grunge overtones. Bellyful of electric riffs, “Spirits and Rebirth” is dreamy, soft in its conclusion, reflective. Franck lets loose android phantoms in “Digital Voodoo Blues” a song that’s so schizophrenic and at odds with itself that it flat lines into static. Rounding off this Afro-futuristic voyage is “The Orphan Song” with its infectious fusion of sitar, synth, bass, acoustic and electric guitars that work in tandem to create a head bopping track. MOONWATCHING is a refreshing departure from the expected musical outputs of today’s artists with its cornucopia of innovative soundscapes.
